The Langevin Institute
In brief
Institut Langevin is a joint research unit between ESPCI Paris and CNRS. It obtained in 2011 the French government label “LABEX” (laboratory of excellence) for the project WIFI (Waves and Imaging: From Fundamentals to Innovation).
Presentation
Institut Langevin was founded by Mathias Fink in 2009. It was created by merging two laboratories: the "Waves and Acoustics laboratory", founded and directed by Mathias Fink, and the "Optics Physics laboratory" led by Claude Boccara.
This allows to bring together on the same site researchers from different backgrounds, all driven by the same passion: the study of all possible types of waves.
Following Mathias Fink and Arnaud Tourin, Yannick De Wilde took over as head of the Institut Langevin in 2022. The unit is organized in such a way as to support cutting-edge scientific research and promote its development.
